Chapter 01: The Two Alchemists
- Introducing: Edward Elric (The Fullmetal Alchemist), Alphonse Elric, Rose Thomas, Father Cornello
Scene 1 (pg 1 -3): Flashback. A young Edward calls out to Alphonse, having lost his left leg.
Scene 2 (pg 4 - 10): In the present, Ed and Al are in Lior, listening to a radio sermon while Ed eats. The cook explains who Father Cornello is and Letoism. Since they aren't listening, he yells at them to leave; when doing so, Al bumps his head and breaks the radio. He repairs it using alchemy. Amazed, the townspeople mistake him for "the Fullmetal Alchemist", pissing off Ed, who is the real one.
Scene 3 (pg 11 - 14): Rose walks up to the counter to buy some food before heading to the church to make some offerings. More explanations about Cornello and Letoism. Finishing his sermon, Cornello praises Rose for her work.
Scene 4 (pg 14 - 18): Rose finds the Elric brothers in the church. She explains that the father said that she can bring back her boyfriend from the dead. Edward begins rattling off what makes up the body of a human, and emphasizes that alchemists search for the truth, thus they don't believe in a god.
Scene 5 (pg 19 - 22): A crowd watches Cornello perform "the power of miracles", which Ed figures is just alchemy that seems to defy the law of equivalent exchange. Noticing the ring on Cornello's finger, he asks Rose if they could take them to see the father.
Scene 6 (pg 22 - 24): When Father Cornello is informed, he orders for them to be ridden of.
Scene 6 (pg 24 - 32): When the boys and Rose are brought in, one of the brothers shoots Al's head off, revealing that he is a suit of empty armor. The brothers fight them off. Rose asks them just what are they. They counter her, asking if she wants to know the truth.
Scene 7 (pg 32 - 40): Ed and Al make their way to meeting Cornello. Turns out, they are looking for the Philosopher's stone, which is the gem on the ring that the father is wearing. Cornello then reveals his true intentions to make his believers into a great army to take over the country. Turns out, Rose has heard everything from inside Al. Weak, Rose joins Cornello, still convinced that he will bring her boyfriend back.
Scene 8 (pg 41 - 51): Father Cornello unleashes a chimera on Ed and Al. Ed transmutes a weapon to fight with without making a transmutation circle. During the fight, it is revealed that his leg and arm are made of automail.
Chapter 02: The Price of Life
- Introducing: Lust, Gluttony
- Dead: Father Cornello
Scene 1 (pg 1 - 2): Cornello convinces Rose that the boys have committed the ultimate sin: human transmutation.
Scene 2 (pg 3 - 6): Flashback. A young Ed and Al come up with a theory to bring their mother back to life. Unfortunately, it goes wrong. Al woke up in armor, to the sight of his brother without with right arm (given up to get Al's soul back) and left leg. Ed asks Rose if she has the guts to do the same to get her boyfriend back.
Scene 3 (pg 7- 14): Cornello laughs at the brothers and attacks them with a gun he transmutes, saying he'll send them back to God. Ed blocks it. "Nope, God hates us. Even if we go, he'll send us back!" Ed then makes an exit and they escape, passing through all of Cornello's goons. Passing by the room where Cornello broadcasts his sermons, Ed comes up with a plan.
Scene 4 (pg 15 - 18): Al steals the bell from a tower. He explains further what happened when they were younger to Rose, and their plans to get their bodies back.
Scene 4 (pg 18 - 30): Cornello finds Ed waiting in the broadcast room. Without him knowing, Ed broadcasts to the whole town what the father says his plans are. Angered, he transmutes his arm to fight until it's mutilated. Ed tries to get the Philosopher's stone, but it breaks. Pissed, Edward transmutes a giant statue of Leto and punches him with it.
Scene 5 (pg 30 - 32): Ed lets Al know that the stone was a fake. Rose cries, asking the boys what she is supposed to do now. Ed simply tells her to get up and move forward.
Scene 6 (pg 33 - 38): Outside, the townspeople riot. Lust and Gluttony approach Cornello for messing up the plan. Lust kills him; Gluttony eats his corpse.
Chapter 03: The Mining Town
- Introducing: 1st Lieutenant Yoki, Kyle, Halling
Scene 1 (pg 1 - 4): On the train, the boys head to Youswell Coal Mine. Kyle and Halling find them, surprised to see tourists, and offer them a place to stay.
Scene 2 (pg 5 - 10): Unable to pay the high prices for his meal, Ed decides to use his alchemy to gain a discount. However, upon learning Edward's name, Halling takes away his dinner and kick him out. Apparently the miners in Youswell despite state alchemists and the military. They let Al stay since he isn't one.
Scene 3 (pg 11 - 12): Kyle explains to Al that the military men under 1st Lieutenant Yoki took over their mine, making them miserable and making them pay high taxes. They hate state alchemists because alchemy is supposed to be for the people.
Scene 4 (pg 12 - 15): Al sneaks the meal they gave him out to Ed and informs him of what he learned.
Scene 5 (pg 16 - 21): Yoki barges in, wanting taxes. Ed stops them from injuring anyone else when they can't pay, showing his state alchemist pocket watch. Wanting to please him, Yoki takes him to his place.
Scene 6 (pg 21 - 24): Yoki tries to bribe Ed to put in a good word for him. As he leaves, he overhears Yoki order to burn down Halling's store.
Scene 7 (pg 25 - 28): Ed arrives to see that they have done so. Kyle pleads Ed to transmute some gold to save the down; he refuses as it's against the law. Halling explains the reason why they won't leave Youswell is because it "is our home. And our coffin."
Scene 8 (pg 29 - 33): Ed walks off, transmuting some bars of gold. He approaches Yoki with them to buy the deed to the coal mines, making sure he writes a memorandum staying that it was transferred to him for free.
Scene 9 (pg 34 - 42): Edward comes back to miners, handing Halling the deeds to the coal mine in exchange for one night and two meals. Yoki barges in for an explanation as to why the gold reverted back to coal. The miners beat him up and celebrate.
Chapter 04: Battle on the Train
- Introducing: Colonel Roy Mustang (The Flame Alchemist), 1st Lieutenant Riza Hawkeye, 2nd Lieutenant Jean Havoc, 2nd Lieutenant Heymans Breda, Warrant Officer Vato Falman, Master Sargent Kain Fuery, Major General Hakuro, Bald
Scene 1 (pg 1 - 3): Bald leads a group of Eastern Extremists to hijack a train with General Hakuro and his family onboard. They demand the release of their imprisoned leader in exchange for their hostages.
Scene 2 (pg 4 - 6): At Eastern HQ, Colonel Mustang and his subordinates find out about General Hakuro and his family being held hostage on a train by . After looking at the list of passengers, Roy says that everything will be fine because the Fullmetal Alchemist is on board.
Scene 3 (pg 7 - 16): One of the extremists wakes Ed up after holding the rest of the passengers hostage, insulting his height. Ed beats him up. When the rest of the extremists join in, they end up tied up and spilling their plans. Ed goes up on the top of the train to head for the front of the train, while Al goes through the carts.
Scene 4 (pg 16 - 25): Bald hears of the situation. Noticing something on the roof, he shoots at the roof of the cart, hitting Ed's automail foot. He manages to take down some more of the henchmen. He gets an idea using the water in the tender of the train
Scene 6 (pg 25 - 33): Ed transmutes a system to talk to the extremists, asking them to release the hostages and surrender themselves. Since they refuse to, Ed transmutes a water pipe, flooding them to a cart where they can fight. Ed and Al take down Bald.
Scene 7 (pg 34 - 39): Mustang's troops greet Ed and Al, as well as capture the extremists. When Bald attacks the Colonel, he uses his flame alchemy, introducing himself as the Flame Alchemist.
